The Sustainable Development Goals are a responsibility shared by all actors and citizens of the signatory countries. To meet the challenge of implementing them in France, it is necessary to identify the key areas in which French society must collectively progress. The mobilization of all actors is therefore a prerequisite for their realization, each having a role to play. By offering a common language and a reference framework, all these actors finally have a concrete universal framework to make their actions more sustainable.
Situation and organization of implementation in France
France volunteered at the first High-Level Political Forum for Sustainable Development (HLPF) in 2016 to present a comprehensive national review of implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Across France, SDGs implementation is moving forward. What is the current state of this implementation and how is it organized?
Mobilized stakeholders
Associations, researchers, citizens, local authorities, companies, the State, trade unions - each has a place and a role to play in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. After an awareness-raising phase, each of these actors generally has an appropriation phase during which they revisit their existing projects through the lens of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and verify that their action is useful for certain SDGs.
Numerous player initiatives
Local authorities, associations, businesses, investors, research, young people, government departments and parliamentarians are all different players who, by activating levers specific to their environment, help to speed up the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
